Things not to do on your first day of work

  1. Ask your boss for the afternoon off as you have a job interview
  2. Turn up late and/or with a hangover
  3. Answer all requests with “Aye Aye, Cap’n!”
  4. Answer all requests with “Sorry, I’m on my [coffee/lunch/biscuit/toilet/exercise/Sudoku] break, can you come back later?”
  5. Turn up wearing a novelty Sesame Street tie

Mr E

If you were a sailor I’m sure 3. would be acceptable, as long as it was the Captain addressing you.

…and if you worked in kids TV I’m sure the last would also be acceptable, as long as it wasn’t a rival company.

* Cry about free speech all you want, this is my website and I don’t want the word used there turning it up – even if it was spelt incorrectly.

Please delete that last, badly-spelt, shoddy attempt at character assassination.

I wouldn’t classify a post in which 1 of 61 letters are incorrect as ‘badly-spelt’. That means there’s less than a 2% chance that a certain letter is incorrect which, at a 5% significance level, indicates the post is generally spelt correctly.

I personally don’t think you should delete that post. It’s not particuarly offensive and is also good advise for those seeking to keep their job. My post has enriched the internet and made it a more valuable resource. In deleting my post you could deprive someone seeking advise for his first day of work of this useful information and, through no fault of his own, will cause him to lose his job. Would you want that?

I hope this post doesn’t further you’re out of control rage. I’m sorry if this post contains further spelling mistakes. Cba to scroll up and check my splelling. (OMG i totally used a TLA and spelt spelling wrong WTF!!!)

Lastly, i don’t know what you’re talking about with all the ‘character assassination’ nonsense – Jonathon (<—- That’s how i spell my name, you must have me confused with one of those crazy British chaps who spell their name with an ‘a’ where i have an ‘o’)

p.s I blame my keyboard. It’s new and sucks big-time. (http://internet.ls-la.net/pictures/images/Computer/New-Microsoft-Keyboard.jpg)

LOL

Mr E

Who exactly are you? And if you spell your name “Jonathon” then why have you just posted as “Jonathan”?

Sheepie

He kind of contradicted himself in that he admitted that there was a spelling mistake and then saying it was spelt correctly all the time.

And what a useful keyboard!

I assumed the misspelling of “<word removed for above reason>” was being referred to.

I frequently turn up to work hungover but as long as I can function my boss doesn’t really mind. She’s cool :)
