Perfect timing...
After writing my last entry about leaving romance for the moment, I seem to have rather inconveniently fallen in love.
I knew Steve Jobs wouldn’t let me down on yesterday of all days (it being my birthday). (That said, where’s Firewire 800 and the PCMCIA slot?)

Mr E
Looks pretty cool, but I’m not sure about the name. Anyway, my Powerbook should do me for a few years yet.

The name is an interesting point. Speculation is that they’ve renamed it because the “Power” of Powerbook is named after the PowerPC architecture. So what is the Intel Powermac going to be called? Then there’s the “Pro” part of the name, which suggests that the iBook’s new incarnation will just be “MacBook” without the Pro. Yet the iMac has kept its name…

Mr E
Maybe because “MacMac” would sound silly.

The Powerbooks had it… didn’t they?

http://www.apple.com/uk/powerbook/specs.html – go to “Expansion”. The 15 and 17 inch models do.
