Octopus
Finally. And it’s not half as chewy as I’ve been told. In fact, it’s just like squid, only with suckers.
We should eat more octopus in the UK. Or indeed squid – I’m not fussed either way. The suckers do look cool though.
With the exception of my octopus break I’ve been working pretty much since nine this morning. It’s now half five – still another four hours working time before bed if I allow half an hour for supper…
</new me>
Seriously, work is good. I expect to snap out of it at some point, though hopefully not soon as I have an entire bilingual PHP content management system to write by next Friday, and I need this enthusiasm. Speaking of which, back to work!

Programming is addictive.

It is… but documentation is a pain in the butt, and usually the more programming you do, the more documentation you have to write…
Octopus is also good. Particularly in takoyaki!

It’s like writing a commentary along with a composition. It sucks, but it’s probably worth it. (I try to document functions as I go along because I don’t remember how they work otherwise.)

Ah yes. I never do any of that. Perhaps I should.

You only need to do it if someone else will be using it or modifying it. Otherwise you can just do minimal to remind yourself when you get back to it.

True… but I usually assume I’ll remember what everything does and then have to spend ages working it all out again after several months.

shark is actually quite nice to eat as well.

You can get shark in the UK but it’s quite expensive I think. I’ve never seen squid or octopus though. (Maybe you can get them, I don’t know.)
I’ve come very close to trying shark (for a Jaws-themed eleventh birthday party no less) but the fishmonger ran out just before my hosts arrived to buy it.

You can get both squid and octopus in the UK, you just need to know the right places!
