Apples
You know when you think of something amusing you could have said about five minutes too late to say it? I’ve just had that, only it’s a month too late. You might recall the proliference of Macs at the conference I went to. Three things suddenly occured to me just now:
- The place I am staying is famous for its apples
- Macs are made by Apple
- Some witticism could surely be made by combining these facts with the above photo
Something along the lines of:
- “I knew there’d be lots of apples when I came to Japan, but I didn’t expect them down south”
- “I knew apples were popular in Aomori, but didn’t know it spread country-wide”
- “Not all apples in Japan are for eating” etc. etc.
Actually, perhaps it’s best I didn’t think of this at the time. Now at least I retain some kind of respect for posting this in an ironic fashion – back then it would have just been a poor pun.
Irony: making bad jokes acceptable since ages past.
(People of the blogosphere! Your task is to come up with more taglines for irony. And possibly bad apple/Apple puns if you are so inclined.)

You used the word “blogosphere”.
We’ve talked about this before…

Matthew, your blog is going downhill.
Or not maybe. Um.

Rory: Have we?
Sheepie: I could take this in two ways. Firstly, it is a serious speculation that the amusing content of my blog has gone downhill in recent weeks, with an addendum stating that this isn’t necessarily the case and that the content is as good as ever. On the other hand, it could also be a speculation that my blog is not particularly amusing currently, and that it might possibly just be consistant for it to be at this level due to this always be the case.
Clarify, man!

I think it was just a momentary “those jokes actually wouldn’t be funny, ever” thing. Although that was kind of your point… um, or possibly it’s your inverse relationship between goodness of content and frequency of posts, which you have had rather a lot of recently…
Anyway, I don’t think I was serious. That’s why I put the second bit in. I’ve confused myself. Don’t ask. Forget everything. Meep.
