- Wireless connections that drop out randomly
- Rush-hour trains in Tokyo
- Not being able to understand what shop assistants say

- People speaking English with such a strong accent you’re sure it’s Japanese
- Buying something only to discover it has fish eggs in the middle
- No burgers or hotdogs at barbecues
- Fat Japanese men in the onsen
- Low ceilings
