iTunes 7

I was going to post something along the lines of “Anyone else really dislike the new iTunes?”, but it turns out someone does. That said, gapless playback! For months Dark Side of the Moon* has had irritating pauses where there should have been smooth transitions. I wonder if the iPods now have it – might make getting one of nanos even more tempting. Those colours, though. I was pleased to see the back of the minis for that very reason.

* Amongst other albums, but that’s the first I can think of.

Because I was going to just stop using my laptop shortly after buying it…

It’s available for Windows as well I believe.

Yes, the new iPods do have it apart from the Shuffle.

Actually, I seem to remember the colours growing on me last time. Maybe they will this time. Not that I’m getting one.

If I was downloading music I might get the windows version, but aside from the music store iTunes is a malevolent little sucker… Last time I used it, it grabbed all the resources and pairings it could and wouldn’t let go… Bah…

The Windows version always was resource-intensive. I’ve never had problems with it on the Mac – but then it was designed for the Mac.

Yeah, I’m sticking with WMP11, its a much nicer beast than the old clunky muckbucket and it’s autolists and Juice integration (and the crossfading it’s had for a few versions now…) make it so easy to run my Zen and Pocket PC from…

The Windows version is a pile of poo, to be honest. Apple programs, as a rule, run badly on Windows. Likewise, Microsoft programs run badly on OS X.

This is one of the reasons why I have two computers: a Mac and a PC.

Office for Mac was apparently better than Office XP, them being released at a similar time. So that’s not completely true. Also, iTunes was never that bad on Windows.

I am not sure but I’d imagine that the latest Office for Mac would be better compared to Office 2003…

iTunes is terrible, slow to load, over-bearing and a pain in the rear to organise with. It refuses to co-operate easily with any other software, basically it’s iTunes only or no iTunes… Which may be fine on an Apple-monopolised Mac, but in the real computing world where your company gets split into bits for that kinda thing its just not on…

Other software like what? It’s a music player. If you don’t have an iPod, sure, you’ll need different software, and then it might be a pain to use your iTunes library. But I don’t expect Windows users to use it unless they have an iPod or want to use the music store.
