Unusual
Today is the day that I have more lectures than the medics.
Given that medics normally have six hours of lectures a day, whereas I have six hours a week, this is a strange experience.

Mr E
How many lectures did you have today? I only had one making today by far my lightest day. I have six hours of lectures on tuesdays and thursdays, and seven on fridays, and that’s not including tutorials, supervisions, rehearsals or anything else.

Six hours a week? Gosh, that’s still LOADS. You must have more than one on some days! The rumours are true apparently; English students DO have it easy.

Two hours ensemble practical once a fortnight, an hour’s history, an hour’s harmony, an hour’s composition, an hour’s tutorial and an hour’s compulsory attendance at a department concert. Oh, and an hour’s piano lesson a fortnight. Six and a half really, and only one is really a lecture. So I’m good.

Are you still going to take Japanese?

Not possible, unfortunately. The university’s Japanese course clashes with one of the main reasons I took music: the performance module. The Japanese society get language teachers in every couple of weeks, but the lessons clash with the main CU meeting.

My lightest days are monday and friday, when I don’t have any lectures, and won’t. ever. On wednesdays I have one every other week… But on Thursdays I’m in from 9am-8pm… thanks to an evening Hebrew class…
The Japanese here at Queen’s is on a Wednesday afternoon but I have a possible appointment on a wednesday evening that may or may not start too early for japanese so I’m kinda forced out of it for now.. But maybe can take it up later!
We’ll see…

How many do you have?

No, I exaggerate. In a week, seven hours of lectures, thirteen hours of seminars, then the practicals. I think.

I have 11 hours of lectures per week, plus 3 hours of tutorials. Although we’re expected to put in around 15-21 hours of private study and reading outside of class.

Today I had 8 hours of practicals, tutorials, seminars and lectures. In a week I probably have about 24 hours of such things.

We’re pretty much even then, Martina.
