Other Blogs
- iamsparticus.com – my cousin Mark's website
- but she's a girl... – aside from i am sparticus, this is the weblog I've been reading for the longest
- Daring Fireball – John Gruber, the writer of two Movable Type plugins I use, keeps a weblog here
- SimpleBits – Dan Cederholm has written an excellent book (which I own) based on writings in this weblog
Web Design
- A List Apart – A List Apart articles have helped many a web designer, including me.
- HTML Dog – An excellent resource for those new to HTML + CSS, and even useful for old hands.
Web Comics
- Ctrl+Alt+Del – the supreme gaming web comic, which is excellent even though I'm not a gamer.
Software
- Get Firefox – Firefox is an excellent web browser that I used exclusively before buying a Mac. All Windows users should try it, and use either it or Opera (though Internet Explorer 7 may be a valid alternative).
- Camino – Firefox for the Mac, just with Applescript instead of extensions. My browser of choice.
- Opera – an excellent web browser that I used to use before I discovered the joys of Firefox's extensions. It's faster though, and has many features built-in that you have to add on to Firefox.
- Get Thunderbird – Thunderbird is an email program, and is a companion to Firefox. It's what I used to check my email before my Mac. Recommended.
- Gentoo – my former operating system, Gentoo is the Linux distribution I chose to run for almost two years.
- Ubuntu – I hear excellent things about this Linux distribution from all quarters, including the former Gentoo user who introduced me to Linux. If you want to try Linux out, I'd recommend Ubuntu.
